Stars Win the MMDA World Series

In a fitting ending to a great series, the Northwest Stars eeked out a 2-1 victory over the Bethlehem Beaz in 11 innings. The game was deadlocked at 1-1 when Mark Grudzielanek came up and delivered a single past the slow footed Miguel Cabrera to plate Kurt Suzuki with the go ahead run. Bethlehem could not manage any offense against closer Francisco Cordero in the bottom of the 11th inning.

This is the second WS victory for manager Ray Ross. After the game he commented that he thought that his team created some matchup problems for Bethlehem. Manager Burns agreed and was of the opinion that the Stars and Breakers were two teams that Bethlehem did not match up very well against.

The world series MVP went to the Stars Y Betancourt who batted .440 for the series with 4 runs scored and 3 RBI. The offensive goat was Bethlehem 3B Miguel Cabrera who batted a less than stellar .038 with 1 run scored and 0 RBI.

Congratulations to the MMDA World Series Champion Northwest Stars!
