World Series Game 1 Results

Game 1 of the 2008 MMDA World Series was won by the visiting Northwest Stars in convincing fashion by a score of 11 - 2. The game was never in doubt from the get go. The Stars scored 2 in the top of the first inning and by the end of the third inning had built a lead of 7-0.

Bethlehem Starter Roy Halladay was the sacrificial offering for the game 1 massacre. Bethlehem manager Kevin Burns lamented after the game that it was unfortunate that our best pitcher had to be used in game 7 of the previous series. We will try to hang on and win the next game.

The offensive hero for the Stars was Mike Lowell who went 4-5 with 4 RBI. He was quoted after the game that he knew that winning pitcher Gil Meche had it going tonight. You could see it in his eyes that he was not going to get knocked around like the last series.

Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow night, weather pending. Stay tuned........
